Xfinity/ Target gift card scam

It just happened to me. I should have been smarter. Somehow they hack into your account and use your data to sound authentic.

This has gone on for awhile. Why didn't Comcast inform all customers when this scam was discovers.

I believe they are responsible for negligents, they have a duty to secure and communicate all discrepencies.

Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, there are lots of bad actors out there portraying themselves as Xfinity Representatives. They will gather whatever information they can about you to gain access into your accounts, not just Comcast. This type of scam has been going around for some time, and our security team is aware. However, I would still recommend reaching out to the CSA team at 1-800-266-2278

This literally happened to me yesterday and today, March 17/18 2025.  Call on my cell from "xfinity" about reducing my internet bill.  Instructed to purchase two Target cards $225 each and call back with numbers, which like a complete idiot I did.  They had made a payment on my account and quoted the exact amount I could see online, so I thought they were legit.  When they called back saying they needed me to buy more cards I realized I'd been scammed.  No recourse despite reporting to both xfinity and bank - it's a rock-solid and sophisticated scam, likely happening to thousands of people every day.

So, xfinity, why don't you know my account is hacked and being used for fraud?  You might want to do something about that.
