Technicolor modem and remote management

Have just had some service work done (outside wiring, modem replacement, reconfigure statics, you name it).  It's all up and working now :).  I have changed the default cusadmin password to one of my own, and all of that is working.  I have been able to access all of the menus locally.  I also have also configured remote management to allow logins from a different outside IP that belongs to me, and I can access the modem via the gateway address.  It recognizes my incoming address, as I get the login screen.  However, when I log in as cusadmin, it will not accept either my new password (which still works locally) or the default password.  Is there a reason for this?  Sometimes I'm not getting traffic passed to my internal network, and would like to log in to the modem to see what's going on - the machine I'm remoting from is many miles away and would take a long part of the day to drive to access it locally.

Is there something about cusadmin that's treated differently during remote management?  If so, why is this allowed to be set up by the user?

Thanks,

john

Thanks for reaching out to us if you're using your local IP you would need to be connected to your Business Network. If you're using a static IP then you should have access to  cusadmin  remotely

local ip configuration web page works fine, with cusadmin and updated password.  Reaching from outside via static IP routes ok, and gives login screen, but same password does not authenticate.  Just wondering if this was a "feature".

You should be able to access it with the same password. Are you receiving an error message when trying to log in via the static IP?

I'm getting an error Access denied: You have 7 remaining  login attempts; after 7 attempts your account will be locked for 5 mins

Here's what I've learned -

This does not explicitly say login/password invalid.  I noticed this morning that I could log in from remote computer, but not from local.  Traced it down to something related to multiple cusadmin login sessions.  But it gets worse.  After a modem reboot, anyone's login works.  But no one else can log in.  Even if the original session is logged out.  I had local Computer A and remote Computer B.  Remote B logged in and then properly logged out.  local Computer A could not log in.  Thinking this may be a TIMED_WAIT or CLOSE_WAIT condition, I wait several times to retry.  local Computer A could no log in after remote Computer B had been logged out for 3 hours.  Only thing that would break this was a modem reset.  And then you have one permanent client computer.  So, if you're about to leave the site where the modem is, do not log in, or then you'll "own" it.  I'd love to find a way multiple clients can share, but this has been my observation so far.  And the original client can log back in repeatedly.  I don't see a firmware rev on the home page.  Thanks for replying.

Thanks for the update, I'm glad you are able to access it remotely as long as the local one is not logged in  do you have any other questions or concerns?

It's not a matter of the local one being currently logged in. It's if the local one has logged in since the modem was last reset.

But no questions at this time.  Thanks.
