CG3000DCR Firmware Versions

Greetings,

 

I am wondering what firmware versions everyones' Netgear CG3000DCRs are running.

 

To start, I am running V2.01.01T.

Hello DrDeke and welcome to the forum,

 

Sorry, but I do not recognize your " V2.01.01T  " firmware info.

 

In order to physcally determine what Firmware revision level your NetGear 3000 (NG3K) simply procede as follows:

1. connect a laptop, notebook, desktop, or tablet device to any of the NG3K LanPorts 1-4 via Enet cable
2. bring up a browser on the device, then type in the address field 10.1.10.1
3. in the login window enter username= cusadmin and paswword= highspeed
4. after logging in, then click on the gateway summary link and read the firware version displayed here.

 

I believe the latest NG3K firmware should be 1.34.02.

Running hardware verion 1.04 and firmware version 1.33.03 here.

 

And on a whim I decided to do persistent pings to the internal router ip address (changed mine to 192.168.1.0/24). And lo and behold, the spikes in latency I am seeing from pinging Google's and OpenDNS DNS servers match up just about perfectly.

 

So, to Comcast, 1.) When might we be able to expect a functioning firmware to address these issue (and if need be, I'll volunteer to beta test it. Hell, it can't dork my connection any worse than what it currently is at the moment) and

 

2.) Who do I need to talk to in order to replace this Netgear modem with an SMC model? Apparently, its not my internal networking hardware causing this issue, unless everyone else who has reported the same problems all have the same network configurations.

Hi Tuska,

 

Just chekcing in after a couple months. Is there anything special we need to do to have the new firmware applied? I just rebooted the modem and it's still the same version.

Checking in here too. I don't mean to continuously bother you guys, but my trial device is also still running V2.01.01T after a reboot tonight. I just don't want to miss some step in getting the new firmware applied if one is needed.

 

EDIT: Sorry; you said SMC trial devices and mine is a Netgear device. Any news on those? 🙂

Strange, I just got my NG3K last week from CC and mine is running V1.33.03, did they downgrade them or something?

I noticed with my SMC (non-ipv6) modem that there is ~2 seconds of buffer, so I was getting latency spikes with big uploads. I applied traffic shaping and that cleared up the issue. Maybe that's what you're experiencing?

are you configuring traffic shaping in your smc or via another device? if its the smc, where do you configure those setting at?
