what does Prefer Private Connection under connected devices mean

There is no info about this and what it does.

Hey there @sgrayban

 

'Prefer Private Connection' will disable any public hotspot from broadcasting. =] While these hotspots won't have any affect on your bandwidth, we understand customers want the option to remove the feature if they deem it unnecessary.

@Comcast_Brie it doesn't have any effect on the wifi.  I have both wifi radios (2.5ghz and 5ghz) turned off and the public wifi isn't on, no matter my "Prefer Private Connection" setting.  If I turn the wifi radios on, the public xfinity hotspot is on, no matter the "Prefer Private Connection" setting.

And why would wifi settings be under the "connected devices" section?
