port forwarding CGA4131COM v 2.3
Here is another Port Forwarding failure! The only ports that can be opened are the standard ports in the pull done list i.e. FTP, HTTP, HTTPS etc. The general concept of Port Forwarding works since I can set Remote Access to the Gateway. It appears that the issue is there is no provision to set the External and Internal Ports. That is External Port 9999 and Internal Port 80. It appears you can only set an External Port Range (Start Port - End Port).
Here is an example from a TP-Link Router
I keep getting told by Comcast is "we don't support port forwarding". This is not acceptable! If I can successfully OPEN a port and it doesn't work then it is my problem. If the gateway will not open the ports then is is a Comcast problem. One tech even told me to get my own router if I need to do port forwarding. This means I lose WiFi Pro and SecurityEdge.
I have already escalated this to Comcast Corporate Escalation case ESL04030110 with no help.

Was just on with them. It does appear that non-standard services are being ignored, which nullifies the whole idea of using port forwarding. Using Wireshark you can see SYNs being sent to the router, but they're just dropped. No SYN_ACKs are coming back from the router, nor do inbound packets show up on the Intranet. I've been 'fighting' this since early 2020 when the installation occurred, but agree that the only response is as above.
