Just installed SB6141, Now appears that I am connecting from across country?
Hey,
I just moved off the SMC modem/router over to a purchased SB 6141. Now whenever I use websites that detect my location it believes that I am located in South Carolina, not Minnesota. My speed test results are also sometimes the same as with the SMC and sometimes worse. Could this location issue be the problem? Is my traffic being routed from the east coast for some reason?
Thanks for any help!

Nah, your traffic is being routed normally. Speedtest.net (and speedtest.comcast.net and many other websites) use third-party geo-location services to try to determine your location, and as you've discovered, they get it wrong sometimes. Comcast doesn't officially provide geo-location to anyone; they change IP address blocks so often that it would be a headache to maintain. Third party companies try to give a "best guess" as to your location. If you're interested, here is one geo-location service. They offer a form on their website you can fill out if you want to update your location; in my experience that can take a while. Here's the link:

For a more accurate speed reading, try manually selecting the speed test server close to you.

Hello jpvaughn and welcome,
Your Downstream, Upstream and SNR all look fine. Make sure you are measuring your speed test directly with Enet cable connected to a computer to your Customer Owned Modem (COM) because that's where Comcast guarantees your internet purchased speed.
Hope this helps you out.

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but here's my signal info:

Cool, thanks for the quick reply! Does my signal strength and everything look ok? I guess the reason I originally went to Speedtest was to try to figure out why service performance was so slow.
thanks again!
