Bridge Mode Setup

Hello.

I'm a Comcast Business class customer and I need my modem put into true bridge mode.  I tried to follow the steps on one of the support pages.  I have set it to Bridge Mode, Advanced.

What is the difference between Bridge Mode Advance and Basic?

I basically need the modem to act as only a modem and present my router with a public IP.  I need to be able to VPN into my office to check up on some security cameras.

I have a dynamic IP.  I also need the failover Cellular internet connection to kick in if the main connection drops.

Any help is much appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Thank you for reaching out to our forums. Did you check out the link: https://comca.st/3ukYNZJ to assist you with using bridge mode on your Gateway?

Hi. Yup I did that.

When I go to check my public IP address https://whatismyipaddress.com/ , it tells me its one thing and the connection status on the Gateway admin page tells me it is something else.

My VPN worked fine with my previous ISP's connection.  My network setup has not changed other than the ISP and gateway.  I recently switched to Comcast Business.

This link can help provide more information on what the difference between "True" vs "Advanced" - https://comca.st/3JdQCm4

So there can be issues when there is a static IP involved when you put the modem in bridge mode. Is the modem providing a static IP right now?

I no longer work for Comcast.
