Modify Domain Zone records.
Dex Media has set up a website for us. They want us to aim our domain at that site with an A record and add a
"www IN CNAME" aliasing our domain.
Since our MX record points to our local SMTP server, that sounds wrong.
I think we want to have a
www 14400 IN A their_ip_addr
or
extwww 14400 IN A their_ip_addr
www IN CNAME extww
or
_http._tcp IN SRV 0 5 80 their_ip_addr
But the support people to whom I have talked are less informed than I. Though Comcast docs indicate that SiteControl allows changing DNS zone records, I only find readonly pages (except for DNS lines).
What are the trade-off of these choices? And how do I get the records changed?
Thanks,
Rob

Hello rir and welcome,
If you are moving in your existing Domain unber the Comcast Umbrella, please Use your existing domain name with Comcast Business email and web hosting as the means by which you accomplish this. All of the CName change information is achieved via the Step 5 of the afirementioned link provided to you.
Hope this helps you out.

Rich,
I was not clear--this is a modification to an existing Comcast account.

Hi rir.
Changes to the DNS settings for your domain can be made on the Control Panel. To access the Contron Panel. Sign into the account using the administrator login & password. Click the My account tab & the the website tab. Under the website tab, click manage website, then the Domain Name tab. The edit DNS option located under the Domain Name tab will allow you make the necessary changes. Do not change your MX records
Thank You

Hi John,
I have the similar issue. I need to make changes to existing records on Comcast DNS server, I used to be able to make these changes via Control Portal, even back in May 2014. However, Edit DNS option is gone when I tried to update the records yesterday. How can I get the option/capability back? OR I have to rely on Comcast support team to make these changes for me?
Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.,
