DNS changes / schedule availability

Greetings,

 

We are in the process of cutting over our on-site Exchange server to Microsoft hosted Exchange and need to coordinate DNS modifications over the weekend. Comcast is currently authoritative for the domain and currently hosts our website (and we want to keep that in place).

 

Have been informed we are on your legacy DNS servers and so need you to perform changes, but timing is critical and so wish to coordinate closely with whoever will make these changes.

 

How do we go about accomplishing needed changes over the weekend? (we really cannot afford to call and hope response is better than standard 48-hours).

As followup to previous request, can we get a copy (screen grab or zone contents listing) so that we can manage DNS ourselves?

Hello MBIadmin and welcome,

 

If you bring up a browser and goto DNSGOODIES.com and enter in your Domain Name suffix into DNS Lookup, this will pretty much give you access to the majority of your zone file info. You will need to log into the Business Class Portal using administrator user, then go to MangedServices.Email and click on View DNS Info. This will provide you all of your Comcast Domain specific address information that you should have your Domain Administrator make the appropriate modifications as specified in the View DNS Information link.

VBSSP-RICH,

 

Appreciate the inputs. Am aware of the various tools available to 'dig' (no pun intended) up this info up but have had several people (no longer available) involved with the domain over the years and still discovering things to look for ('oh,yea - we broke the phone operator console when so-and-so changed CNAME in 2009' type stuff) so rather than lookup every record type and hope we catch everything, would prefer Comcast actually look and communicate.

 

We have been told we are on their 'legacy' DNS servers to which the admin console does not provide access so any changes must be performed by the 'maybe we can have level 2 people call you back someday but don't expect a response online' folks here at Comcast.
