Transferred Account, Ended Up With New Contract?!

I originally signed up for service in Brentwood TN under a 2 year contract. I signed up for it back in July of 2012. Before signing up with Comcast Business I had many conversations with customer support. I asked lots of questions before signing that two year agreement. One question was what would happen with the 2 year contract if I moved. I was told it would transfer with me as long as Comcast serviced my new address.

Then when it came time to move in December 2014 more conversations were had transferring service to my new address. I was under the impression it was a straight transfer, not a new contract entirely. I would never have agreed to a whole new 2 year term.

I have a copy of the Business Service Order Agreement which mentions a 2 year term but it was my understanding that was in reference to the original account being carried over. There is no start or end date on the document.

I called today to cancel my service believing I was well outside of the original 2 year agreement and was told I have a NEW contract good till 12/2016. Why would I end up with a new contract when transferring accounts from my Brentwood TN address to my Bothell WA address? That is not what was explained to me when I made that transition.

I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this issue short of having to ride out another year and a half of my second contract.

Thank you!

Hello mlkitterman and welcome, First, Comcast does not transfer Service Order Agreement (SOA) from one physical location to another. Every single business or residential physical location that has Comcast services always has a different account number, and in conjunction with this, its own SOA. If the SOA at any location expires and a customer would like to take full advantage of bundled discounts, they can have a new SOA setup at that location. All SOAs always have a designated start data and expiration date. This is usually located at the very bottom of the SOA, where the signature(s) are located. If you are moving from one Comcast business services location to another Comcast business services location, then you can always have your old SOA disconnected without any penalty, as long as you have a new SOA at a new location. You are not liable to maintain two separate SOAs under this situation. Hope this helps you out.

So I've moved again to a permanent location within WA. If I request to transfer service to my new location am I going to have to start up a new 2 year agreement? Like does the clock start over? And is there going to be another install fee for the new location as well?

Yes. Whenever you relocate your business physical address you will obtain a new SOA and account number for that physical address. The clock always starts at any physical address the day the Comcast services are installed. Depending on the term of the SOA determines what the install fee is and typically it spans from 1 year = $99, 2 year= $49, and 3 year = $0.00.

I believe that I am being told the opposite of this regarding issues I am having with the services and contract regarding my recent move to my new business location. I have been getting the "run-around" by the "retention specialists" on the phone and require further assistance. Thank you!

Hello Zachrdavy and welcome to forums,

I apologize for any frustration this has caused you. I am unclear as to the details of this being the opposite but if you would send me a private message with more details I can help get this cleared up.

Thank You
