Formal Complaint - Material misrepresentation and failure to disclose all material terms
I am filing a complaint with Comcast Business for material misrepresentation and failure to disclose all material terms for the hidden $35/MONTH termination fee, which is buried behind two (2) links and in a PDF. I was informed today that I would have to pay $420 to cancel my Comcast Business account, which has been consistently experiencing outages, service interruptions, and lag. Neither my sales agent nor my service agreement informed me of this extortionate termination fee. Instead, a terms link leads to another page with multiple links, which then directs you to a PDF to search for this hidden detail.
Thankfully, the FCC has implemented 16 CFR Part 425: Negative Option Rule, which prohibits this unethical and deceptive practice. I have filed a complaint with the FCC detailing my experience today.
The hoops Comcast wants me to jump through, as well as those of technicians and agents, are both economically and administratively burdensome. The chat agent I communicated with was rude, stating my only recourse is to schedule THREE tech visits to troubleshoot my internet within three months to waive the fee. Both the chat and phone agents were unwilling to escalate to a supervisor because "they won't do anything." I'm disgusted by the lack of customer service and will be quite vocal in my displeasure to the entrepreneurs in my networking communities, recommending that they do NOT use Comcast or Xfinity.
All I want is reliable service at a reasonable price. Comcast has failed to provide either.
