Cancellation ignored, continued billing, and collections — requesting resolution

I am giving Comcast one final opportunity to resolve a billing dispute that has dragged on for months despite repeated calls and attempts to cancel.

I stopped using the service in January and first tried to cancel in February. On my first call, I waited an hour to speak with someone before I had to hang up. I called again, reached a representative, and was told my service would be canceled. I also paid what I was told was the remaining balance, including charges for service I was no longer using.

Then another bill arrived.

When I called again, Comcast told me the cancellation required paperwork—something I had not been told when the representative agreed to cancel my service. I submitted the paperwork, but Comcast continued billing me during the two months it took to process it.

Months later, I received an email saying my service was being disconnected for nonpayment. I had already requested cancellation, submitted the required paperwork, and paid the balance I was told would settle the account. Now I have also received a collections call about charges I dispute.

The follow-up has been just as poor. I spent two hours being transferred from person to person without a resolution. When I called last Friday, I was told someone would contact me Monday. That did not happen. I am now being told a supervisor will contact me within 72 hours.

This is the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I should not have to spend months chasing Comcast to complete a cancellation its representative already agreed to process.

I am requesting that Comcast:

  • Honor my original February cancellation request and remove all charges incurred after that cancellation should have taken effect.

  • Remove any related late fees or collection fees.

  • Recall any collection referral associated with the disputed charges.

  • Confirm in writing that the account is closed with a zero balance and that no adverse credit reporting will result from these disputed charges.

I am posting here to give Comcast one final opportunity to correct this. If Comcast does not resolve it, I will file a formal complaint with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and consider legal action.

Please have someone with the authority to correct the account contact me and provide a written resolution. Another promised callback is not a resolution.

@Comcast_Cliff I'm now waiting in the chat room... It's been 5 minutes and no response, not even an automated one.

Apparently, nobody I’ve spoken with at Comcast Business has the authority to resolve this, and management remains out of reach. After another 40 minutes in chat, I’m being told to wait “72 business hours” for an executive response.

Why does it take executive involvement just to resolve a cancellation and billing issue?
