Getting variable slow speeds up and down. Not a constant slow-down. Lots of "resolving host"

Seems to happen in the afternoon, and not everyday. Sometimes on the weekends on Friday nights. But it happens sometimes on the weekday. We'll get slow speeds, sometimes a Youtube video or Netflix with degrade the picture because of the bandwidth, then go fine again. We go online and some websites we'll get a long "resolving host" before the website loads. And this includes Comcast. It did it just now as I was about to write this post.

Our modem is not EOL. We have the Business 50Mbps plan. And I've been doing a MTR for www.google.com this afternoon and getting about 3%-4% packet loss.

This isn't resolved.

I got ahold of support, and they sent someone out here yesterday. They said they couldn't find anything wrong other than maybe a wire at the pole that was nibbled on by a squirrel. But at the time he was here, I was having zero problems.

But today, right now, at 5pm Sunday on June 5th, getting the "resolving host" on various sites. There's no reason why either. Because it clear up with no problems after a while.

Using MTR right now to www.google.com Notice the loss %. It's actually worse than before. Again, nowhere does it say on your sites or apps that there are connectivity problems in my area:

Early in the day for Friday here, so far so good. It usually hits in the afternoon with a ton of "resolving host" when trying to go to websites....even here to Comcast.

Saturday afternoon at 5:30pm on 6/18/2016. All week it's been fine, but suddenly getting the connection issues and long "resolving host" problems again. Even trying to get to comcast.com!

Seems to be no solution to this as I've had someone come out here physically and didn't really find anything wrong. Plus we never see any connection problems in the area.

It was going fine for a while, but today, Friday the 1st of July we went totally offline around 6pm. I tried everything from recycling the modem and our router...nothing.

Finally, what I did was hook one of our computers up directly with the modem, and this is where it got weird. I could access a few websites, but not all. All the Google sites were fine, gmail, search, YouTube, Google+...I could get them all. Twitter, nope. Facebook, yes. Reddit, nope. Netflix yes. Hulu, nope. Etc. MOST sites are inaccessible. With an error in chrome having to do with a DNS error, that it couldn't find the sites DNS. Comcast, btw, would load.

There is no difference if the site is http or https.

going back and hooking though the router, everything was gone again. That is, until I put the router in "bridge" mode. Then it acted like above...with most sites other than the ones listed being inaccessible.

I talked to a guy on the phone tonight, and he was totally at a loss. He said that he could see the modem, and it looked like it was working fine and ran diagnostics on it. He couldn't explain why some sites were accessible and some were not. I also told him that a tech had been out here about a month ago and found nothing wrong.

I have no no idea what to do now, as he suggested I look locally at 3rd party IT guys to see if they can resolve it...which pissed me off.

The he only thing I can think of either the modem is bad and that's not showing up for a diagnostic, or it has something to do with the modem suppose to be in bridge mode. About two or so years ago, I contacted a Comcast tech about putting the modem in bridge mode, and having MY router doing the NAT and DHCP. Not sure if you guys reset that or what, or if we can look into that as being the cause. I've tried resetting my router and redoing the settings and even used a different router to see, but to no avail.

Not or sure what I should do. I'm having to write this via an iPad going through an LTE mobile network.
