Connection Pro Cradlepoint - Documentation

Is there any setup documenation from Comcast on setting up the cellular failover Cradlepoint solution? The installer did not provide any further info.

Hey simplysmitten! The failover should have been setup during the install. If you follow these instructions, does Backup Ready show as Connected? https://business.comcast.com/support/internet/manage-connection-pro-online/

Hmm, those are great questions and actually I did find the user guide for the Connection Pro system, which I have attached. If all of that looks like it's good on your side, the next step I would recommend is to reach out to Cradlepoint or your IT person (whichever is the most applicable), so they can take a look at the premised equipment setup.

It shows as Standby, the wifi is connected. I checked failover data stats, and it did kick in today for 10 minutes, although the office was reporting an outage. It should failover with the same SSID/password, etc. as the primary, correct? Just a different medium for connectivity?

The attachment was of a shortcut to the PDF. I'm not sure why I should reach out to Cradlepoint since it should have been tested and verified when installed.

At this time, you would need to reach out to IT in order to set that up.

simplysmitten, I think Anisa was referring to your personal IT support.

But, via the Comcast business portal, you should be able to see the cellular failover data usage report and export the report as necessary. It should already be set up via your Business account if you subscribe to connection pro. Here is the order flow:

  1. Sign in to My account
  2. select internet from the services menu
  3. select manage connection pro on the right side of the screen
  4. On the Connection Pro Status page, view the status of your Comcast broadband connection, the status of the cellular connection and the amount of cellular data used when your broadband connection failed. Select the Expand icon to view more details in each section.
  5. On the Connection Pro Status page, expand the Reports section and select Failover Data Usage.
  6. Select a date range and select Search.

It shows as Standby, the wifi is connected. I checked failover data stats, and it did kick in today for 10 minutes, although the office was reporting an outage. It should failover with the same SSID/password, etc. as the primary, correct? Just a different medium for connectivity?

Yes, I believe so. I can double check your account to check. Just send me a private message.

Comcast cs please help me on this with a PM

I have comcast business with connection pro

I need static IP (LAN for my computers but not DHCP for LAN)

my comcast service is dynamic ip.

this is how it is connected.

Comcast modem with 10.1.10.x network --->>>>> cradle point WAN ( the ip became 192.165.x.x  which I don't mind).. ----> the business 20 port cisco switch (NO dhcp just a switch)... -----> computers/ printers/tablets/phones.... .....I want each computer to have their own static ip at 192.165.x.x or 10.1.10.x,, I am unable to access the admin page at the cradle point to set up a LAN DHCP and LAN static ip setting ...... I do not want to put another OWN router behind the Cradle point for my LAN... please advise how can I access the admin page for cradle point to set up my own LAN network.

Hi there, thanks so much for taking the time to reach out to the Digital Care Team. Can you confirm your name, the full address, and phone number?

Just had Connection Pro setup at my office. Comcast Tier 2 support has to setup the IP Scheme in the Cradlepoint, the user has no access.

All we need is a simple doc on how to setup Connection Pro and I don't see anything.  The tech disconnected it on the last visit.

I asked for that as well (both the installation contractor supervisor and tier2 support) and was told that they don't have such a document. The Cradlepoint website isn't very helpful either.  "Plug it in and see that the lights are green."

The note left by the Comcast installer said "the network needs to be adjusted." Hmm -- great. OK.  Just throw it over the wall and let your customer's IT department figure it out. Great corporate strategy.

I have a similar issue - I have a new Comcast business customer and the CP2 device was not installed by the tech - only the cable modem/router.  So I have my CP2 device, power cord, antenna and a couple of cables and no instructions whatsoever.  Can Comcast please provide some install instructions, manual, etc?  None of the help pages have any information on hardware setup - only how to view connection pro status.   Thanks.

Here is my writeup on how I got this working. The end solution was to put an Edgerouter X configured for WAN failover in front of both the Comcast cable modem/gateway and the Cradlepoint modem.
